Hauserhof – farm holiday with holiday apartment on the edge of Ehrwald

Urlaub am Bauernhof · Ehrwald

We are delighted that you are interested in our holiday apartment – for the most precious time of the year.

The Hauserhof lies in a sunny, quiet spot on the edge of Ehrwald, with a unique view of the Zugspitze and Wetterstein mountains as well as the Sonnenspitze, Grubigstein and Daniel. There are many ways to enjoy the beauty of the landscape with all your senses: hiking, mountaineering, cycling, swimming, horse riding and tennis in summer; skiing, cross-country skiing, tobogganing and ice skating in winter. After an eventful day, a romantic sunset invites you to linger.

Winter at the Hauserhof

Especially in winter, a great network of trails invites you on short and long cross-country tours – you will not soon forget the unique view of the deep-snow landscape.

  • Cross-country trail starts right next to the house
  • Ski bus stop approx. 150 m away – no traffic jams through Ehrwald and no long search for parking
  • Our own snow hill for the children – lots of fun with sledges and bum boards
  • For connoisseurs: a romantic walk across the Moos (also by full moon) or a horse-drawn carriage ride

Summer at the Hauserhof

The Hauserhof is the ideal starting point for your hiking and mountain bike tours, with a panoramic view of the unique solstice mountain fires.

  • Plenty of space for cosy barbecue evenings
  • Deckchairs provided for enjoying the sun
  • With the Z-Ticket many offers of the Zugspitz Arena at reduced prices – ideal for the whole family

The holiday apartment

Our holiday apartment is on the ground floor and has its own entrance. Its heart is the large kitchen-living room.

  • Large kitchen-living room with seating area, generously equipped (dishwasher, microwave, oven, electric cooker with four hobs, coffee machine, kettle and more)
  • Cosy nook with pull-out couch – sleeps 2 (1.60 × 2.00 m), ideal for relaxing and watching TV
  • Additional large pull-out couch for resting
  • Bedroom 1: triple room with shower/WC
  • Bedroom 2 and a separate bathroom with WC
  • Small hallway with wardrobe

Our farm

The Hauserhof has been run and farmed by us, the Kaltschmid family, since 2003. My name is Silvia, I was born in the beautiful Zillertal and found a new home here in the Außerfern with my family. The farm consists of our private area, the holiday apartment and the farm building. We keep cows, young cattle, horses and donkeys, lots of chickens as well as rabbits and cats – and our laying hens mean you can enjoy a fresh breakfast egg every day.

“Your children will feel at home with us.”

  • Large paved forecourt for playing – badminton, bikes, go-kart, toy tractor and more
  • On the lawn a trampoline, a slide with sandpit and a swing
  • Getting to know the animals: stroking rabbits and donkeys, helping to collect freshly laid eggs and watching horses, cows and calves (in summer almost all of them are up on the alpine pasture)
  • Our six cats – Semml, Miki, Moggli, Tigga, Wolke and Flecki – may cross your path and love to be stroked

Discovering this little paradise is quite an experience – we look forward to welcoming you! The Kaltschmid family

History · Ehrwald

From a village of timber merchants to a Zugspitze destination

1274first mention
994 melevation
around 2,600inhabitants

Ehrwald is first documented in 1274. Unlike most places in the Außerfern region, the first settlers arrived not from the Allgäu, but over the Fern Pass from the Imst area. For centuries, the locals sustained themselves through mining and timber trade for the saltworks in Hall. With the arrival of the first summer visitors and the opening of the Tyrolean Zugspitzbahn in 1926, the village transformed into a vacation spot for both summer and winter.

The origin of the name: Its exact origin is not entirely clear: it is interpreted as "beginning of the forest," "old forest," or, due to the presence of ore deposits, as "ore forest."
