Travel Safely

Weather Tips for Mountain Tours

  • Start EarlyIn summer, thunderstorms typically develop in the afternoon – plan your tours so that you reach your destination or are on your way back by noon.
  • Check Mountain WeatherAt the Zugspitze summit, it is usually more than 10 °C colder than in the valley. Before you start, take a look at webcams and the mountain weather report.
  • Note Last DescentThe lifts operate according to seasonal schedules – the last descent is noted in the live status and at the valley station.
  • Check Hut OpeningsMany alpine huts have rest days or close during the shoulder season – the live status shows what is open.
