Take the gondola from Ehrwald up to the sunny Alm: wide, mostly easy slopes, a fun slope, and a snow park, plus the black panorama descent from the Issentalkopf. About 95% of the slopes can be snow-covered.

Family: Certified family ski area with a children's land, magic carpets, and ski kindergarten.

Evenings: Night tobogganing once a week on a lit track.

The local mountain at the edge of Ehrwald – the slopes extend into the village. Two-thirds of the descents are easy, while the 1.8 km long black Wetterstein descent is a challenge for experts. Additionally, there is a 1.4 km ski route.

Family: Certified family ski area with Confetti-Alm children's land and a child-safe 6-seater chairlift.

Evenings: Night skiing on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM, from December 29, 2026, to February 24, 2027, on the sunny slope and family run.

The Tiroler Zugspitzbahn takes you from Ehrwald to the summit in about ten minutes, from there, the glacier lift descends to the Zugspitzplatt. Germany's highest ski area is particularly snow-sure due to its glacier location, with the season running from late November to spring.

Ski Pass: With the Top Snow Card, you can use it directly from Tirol.

Good to know: Predominantly easy and intermediate slopes, along with freeride terrain.

Wide descents with views of the Zugspitze massif, including the Blueline XXL: up to 10 km of easy slope over approximately 1,000 vertical meters. Additionally, there is a snowboard fun park, three family runs, and 1.7 km of ski routes.

Tobogganing: With 2.8 km, the longest natural toboggan run in the arena, starting from the Brettalm.

Connection: A free ski bus shuttles between Lermoos and Biberwier.

The family secret of the arena: manageable slopes, minimal waiting times, and a lovely beginner slope. In Biberland and on the fun slope 'Bibers Buzzebahn', children learn to ski in a playful manner.

The largest ski area in the arena is located in the snow-rich high valley of Berwang and is accessible from Berwang and Bichlbach. Since December 2025, the new 10-seater gondola Obere Karbahn II has replaced an old drag lift and ascends higher.

Evenings: Night skiing at Egghof Sun Jet every Thursday from 5:30 PM to 8:45 PM (December 30, 2026 – March 4, 2027), alongside night tobogganing.

Family: Certified family ski area with Bobo children's land and a free magic carpet.

Night Skiing & Night Tobogganing

Three evenings a week, skiing takes place under floodlights, along with illuminated toboggan runs. In case of bad weather, operations may be suspended.

The Top Snow Card

  • Valid in Two CountriesCovers all ski areas in the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena, the Zugspitze ski area, Garmisch-Classic, and Mittenwald – totaling around 210 kilometers of slopes.

How many slope kilometers does the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena have?

The seven ski areas together offer around 143 kilometers of slopes, with approximately 106 kilometers being equipped with artificial snow. With the Top Snow Card, you also gain access to the Zugspitze, Garmisch-Classic, and Mittenwald ski resorts, totaling about 210 kilometers of ski runs.

Which ski resort is best for families?

Family-friendly ski areas include Ehrwalder Alm, Ehrwalder Wettersteinbahnen, and the Skiarena Berwang-Bichlbach. Biberwier-Marienberg is very calm and easy to navigate, featuring Biberland, which is great for beginners. The Karlift in Heiterwang is also suitable for first turns.

Where can I ski at night?

In Ehrwald at the Wettersteinbahnen on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM (from December 29, 2026, to February 24, 2027), and in Berwang at the Egghof Sun Jet on Thursdays from 5:30 PM to 8:45 PM (from December 30, 2026, to March 4, 2027).

Are Lermoos and Biberwier connected by slopes?

No, but a free ski bus operates between Grubigstein in Lermoos and Marienberg in Biberwier.

How do I get from Ehrwald to the glacier ski area Zugspitze?

Take the Tiroler Zugspitzbahn to the summit in about ten minutes, and from there, descend to the Zugspitzplatt via the glacier cable car. The Top Snow Card is valid here as well.

When does the ski season start?

On the Zugspitze, the season typically begins in late November, while in the other ski areas, it starts depending on snow conditions, generally from early to mid-December.
